How to make: Valentine Cookies

What you’ll need:

  • 250g soft butter
  • 320g plain flour
  • 125g sugar
  • Bag of icing sugar
  • Tablespoon of milk
  • Tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles
  • Heart shaped cutter
  • Rolling pin

How to make:

  1. Preheat the oven at 170C or gas mark 3
  2. Add plain flour and icing sugar to a mixing bowl then mix in butter. Keep mixing until the mixture is light and fluffy
  3. Add a tablespoon of milk and a tablespoon of vanilla extract to the mixture and continue to mix in well
  4. Take the mixture out of the bowl and knead until velvety on a clean surface
  5. Roll out mixture using a mixing pin, ensure the mixture is at least 6mm thick (dust the surface with flour to prevent sticking)
  6. Grease a baking tin with butter. Cut out heart shapes and place in baking tray
  7. Bake in oven for roughly 12 minutes until cookies start to brown
  8. Carefully make the icing sugar using the instructions on the back of the packet (varies depending on the icing sugar you are using)
  9. Remove cookies when cooked and allow to cool
  10. Once cooled you can decorate
  11. Put the cookies into the fridge for 15 minutes, to allow icing to set
  12. Enjoy!
