Dementia Action Week – Doing our bit

Since November 2018 children from our Aldridge nursery have been helping and supporting people with dementia. Once a month children attend classes at local dementia cafes and take part in lots of different activities like arts and crafts. Children also take part in a pen pal system. People living with dementia that use the cafes regularly have spoke of the huge difference this form of intergenerational care and support has made to them. We are absolutely over the moon to of been part of an article published in the Express and Star recently and really wanted to share this with you. We even had the radio at nursery too, this gave us the opportunity to showcase all of the hard work and brilliant support people have put into the local dementia cafes.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Accord and Age UK for letting us be a part of such a fantastic experience. The children are gaining skills and truly enjoy the time they spend interacting with the service users.
